Display Any Name on Your Start Button

Do you like your name or characters name? Well now, if you like to 'Display Any Name on Your Start Button'. Why don't you have a go doing this thing which is very simple thing to do. This changes will makes your start button have a name/the thing you write down.

First of all, you need a freeware called 'Resources Hacker'. This freeware is 100% legal and there is no such things as virus or malwares etc. This program utility help you to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems. The part we need is just for compiling.
Ok, now to the work. To change your start button name you need to do the following:


  1. Go to start
  2. Go to (C:\WINDOWS)
  3. Search for explorer.exe(its shows an icon of a computer)
  4. Now, copy and paste to a temporary file
  5. Name it, your choice i.e family(the start button will apply to what this is called)
  6. Open Resource Hacker
  7. Click file then click open
  8. Now get the renamed explorer.exe
  9. Click ok
  10. Ok, from the left hand side click '+' on string table
  11. Select 37
  12. Then 1033
  13. There a word start somewhere on right hand side, erase 'start' and put the renamed explorer.exe i.e blue
  14. Click compile file
  15. Then save it
  16. Go to regedit(Start->Run->type in regedit
  17. Now, go to(My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion\Winlogon)
  18. When clicking 'Winlogon', don't click the '+' just click on the word
  19. On the right hand side show some list of different file
  20. Search for a file called 'Shell' and click it
  21. Windows will pop-up
  22. On the 'value data' type in the renamed explorer.exe i.e blue
  23. Click ok
  24. Exit & reboot





After you reboot, you will see the start button have change. It will show the name you've written. Now do you feel good for your hard work? if you do, keep changing the name.
